Mistaking labels for skill
Knowing a rule name is not the same as recognising its condition or producing its sound. Test yourself by pointing to the trigger and explaining what you would listen for.
Practising too much at once
Large reading sessions can hide the exact place where a learner is uncertain. Use a short, controlled passage and one practice target so feedback can be specific.
- Do not stack several new rules in one exercise
- Do not correct an unclear sound from memory alone
- Do not treat transliteration as a complete pronunciation guide
Skipping review
A rule that felt clear yesterday may become difficult in a new context. Return to recognition, listen again, and keep a brief note about the correction you received.
