Understand the rule
Qalqalah is a slight bouncing or reverberation of the sound from the articulation point of one of five letters — ق ط ب ج د — when that letter has sukoon. It is not an added vowel and should not be exaggerated into a separate syllable. A learner should not simply memorize a list without hearing the manner of release. The sound is a feature of a specific letter when it is at rest, and the context matters. This is one of the reasons why the learner should combine a written rule with listening and teacher correction.

Important Note
Tajweed is best learned through both understanding and listening. Written explanations can help you understand the rules, but correct pronunciation, timing, and articulation are best learned by listening to a qualified reciter or teacher and practicing along with them.
For the best results, combine reading, listening, repetition, and guidance from a qualified Tajweed teacher.
