What is Madd Wajib Muttasil?
Wajib means obligatory and muttasil means connected. When a madd letter is followed by a hamzah within the same word, the madd letter must be lengthened four or five counts; the lengthening cannot be shortened. This is the strongest of the regularly met madd forms because both the madd letter and the hamzah are present and adjacent in one word. The learner should spot the madd letter first, then the hamzah after it.

How is it pronounced?

Common Mistakes
- Shortening the madd to two counts as though it were natural Madd.
- Splitting the word in a way that turns the rule into the separated form.

Important Note
Tajweed is best learned through both understanding and listening. Written explanations can help you understand the rules, but correct pronunciation, timing, and articulation are best learned by listening to a qualified reciter or teacher and practicing along with them.
For the best results, combine reading, listening, repetition, and guidance from a qualified Tajweed teacher.
